Seniors – League, Reserves & Colts

The finals are upon us and all 3 senior teams are still in the hunt.

The League team won perhaps the best game of football I have ever seen live in a thrilling elimination final over South Mandurah 18.11 119 to 17.10 112. There was actually 17 goals scored in the last quarter. The Reserves weren’t too far behind in another thriller (1st Semi) beating Pinjarra 7.9 51 to 7.5 47. All in all an amazing day of football.

Well done to the Colts who finished on top of the ladder so they had a bye moving straight into the second semi against Pinjarra.

The League will now take on the Baldivis Brumbies at Baldivis Oval on Sunday 9 September

League Game       Rockingham v Baldivis                       3pm                 Baldivis Oval

Reserves Game   Rockingham v South Mandurah        11.30am          Baldivis Oval

Colts Game           Rockingham v Pinjarra                       9.20am            Sir Ross McLarty Oval

I hope you can get down there and watch the matches

The netball season has finished up and has been an outstanding success with the Reserves winning the Premiership. The League and Open teams also made the finals and the Club is very proud of their efforts. The wind up was recently held with all those who attended having a great night. Special thanks to

Soraya for all her hard work in keeping the 3 teams running with ongoing support from Jess – it wouldn’t have happened without your hard work.

Youth & Girls Teams

The Year 11/12’s, 10’s, 8’s and Girls 11/12’s all move into a Preliminary Final this weekend. The Yr 9’s and Girls 9/10’s have progressed straight to the Grand Finals. This is an outstanding effort given the Club does not focus on winning at all costs but more player development and quality coaching and administration. Regardless of the finals outcomes it highlights that we are on the right track – well done!!

The juniors have had their windup and are done and dusted for 2018. It has been another good year for this group and you can see the skills of all the players increasing each week. To all the coaches and team managers thank you very much for all your hard work and commitment and I look forward to seeing you around the Club in 2019.

The Auskick windup has been held with all the kids having a great time. Thanks to the Auskick Coordinator Nakira, our 3 coaches and all the helpers for their time, energy and efforts of being 1 of 4 Clubs who brought in and rolled out Auskick 2.0. It has been a great year.

Player Registrations for 2018

Registrations numbers across the Club have increased over 2018 and currently sit at 570 player members. This is up from 480 members in 2017 and the Club has seen a growth of over 200 members in 2 years which is huge!!

Canteen Update & Launch

The new canteen was launched by the Premier Mark McGowan and Mayor Barry Sammels on Saturday 23 June and has been a huge success for the Club.

Many thanks to our key funding partners the Government of Western Australia through the ‘Local Projects, Local Jobs programs and the City of Rockingham through their Community Grants Program. This financial assistance is hugely appreciated and without it we could not have undertaken the work.

CSBP Quiz Night

The 2018 CSBP Quiz Night was a resounding success with the event selling out in a week and everyone who attended having a hugely fun night. There was many laughs, heaps of dancing and a couple of questions answered correctly over the night. Special thanks to CSBP for their generous financial support to run the event and we have already been asked when the next one will be on!! Those interested will need to get in quick I reckon.

Massive THANK YOU Ken & Kay Cull

The Club would like to extend a massive thankyou to Life Member Ken & Kay Cull for a $1000 personal donation they have given the Club. This is hugely appreciated by everyone and even more special coming from a Club stalwart and legend like Ken. We are a family Club and this epitomizes what we as a Club want to be known for and all about.

City of Rockingham Debt Write

The City of Rockingham Council has resolved to wipe the $40,000 of debt off that the Club owes as part of a wider debt write off for several local clubs. The debt was from when the Club was built in 1990 and we have been paying $10,000 off per year for the last 6 years. This is a huge financial outcome for the Club and we thank the Council very much as we can now use that money on equipment, training and our players.

 ALCOA Community Grant

ALCOA has provided the Club a grant and supported running a mini Auskick Gala Day. 10 ALOCA volunteers were on hand to umpire and cook a sausage sizzle for the over 40 kids who attended the day. Everyone had a great time and thanks to Craig Otto for arranging things and I know for a fact that there was no sausages left over once the kids had been through!!

Line Marking

I just wanted to say a big thank you to Geof Steegstra for his ongoing support in marking the lines on the 2 ovals. His help and support is greatly appreciated.

A massive thank you to all our volunteers around the Club. Your help and support does not go unnoticed and this Club would not run without you. You are the backbone of this Club. To the Committee thank you very much. You work so hard to deliver football to this community that many people would have no idea how much time, effort and energy you put in. I know it, and I thank you very much you are worth your weight in GOLD!!

Kind regards
Michael Holland
