ROCKINGHAM RAMS league UPDATE 2023

The 2023 season for the Rockingham Rams Football Club’s League side proved to be a challenging journey. Unfortunately, it was a winless season that was punctuated by significant injuries to key players. However, amidst the setbacks, the season showcased a silver lining as we prioritised the development of our younger players.
Despite the winless record, the club successfully provided opportunities for its emerging talents to gain valuable experience on the senior stage. This investment in youth promises to serve as a foundation and catalyst for a renewed vigour in the upcoming 2024 season. As we reflect on the trials of the 2023 season, we remain optimistic about the bright prospects and potential awaiting in 2024.

ROCKINGHAM RAMS Reserves Update 2023

Season 2023 started with high expectations after going back-to-back
premiers and playing off in the last 5 Grand Finals.

Round 1 started off well with an 84pt win over Waroona and we proceeded to win the next 7 games with our first loss coming at the hands of a stacked Pinjarra team.

At the halfway point of the season, we were equal on top with Sth Mand, things were looking good and the team was gelling well.

We continued on playing consistent football each week even with ins and outs due to the senior team being struck by a number of unlucky injuries.

In round 16 we lost a crucial game to Halls Head which would ultimately cost us second spot on the ladder heading into the finals.

So we headed into an Elimination Final against Mundijong at Sth Mand,at halftime we led by 16pts and things were looking good. For some reason after that we just stopped and Mundi got on a roll that we could not stop.

We ended our season with a 15pt loss and there was a lot of soul searching done over the next few weeks seeing how the finals ended up panning out and what could have been.

So looking forward to 2024 we have our 70th year Anniversary. The players have been training well all preseason both League and Reserves teams look forward to getting back to where we belong and that is playing a competitive exciting brand of football, winning games and playing finals with the dream of more flags.

Josh Higgins

Colts Coach

Josh has been playing footy for 18 years, winning 4 premierships along the way and has played Colts, Reserves and League at Rockingham.

Josh is passionate about player development, both on and off the field, and he knows that he can get the best out of a young and aspiring team. He knows all the senior coaches at the Rams and has built a training and game program that directly aligns with our Year 11/12 program through to the League team. This ensures clear and direct alignment with the Colts program into senior football.

A message from Josh:
” I’m very eager and keen to get into it. I love seeing development within people, not as just players but
developing them as young people on and off the field. I’m excited to create a close knit team where I’m seen as an approachable coach and a players coach where feedback, ideas and all around involvement is encouraged! “
